“Let’s Discuss” A Course in Miracles and Addiction
“You may believe that you are responsible for what you do, but not for what you think. The truth is that you are responsible for what you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice” (T-2.VI.2:5-6).

There is not one among us who is not addicted to something. Whether it’s substances, relationships, control, approval, our thoughts, even perceptions of God, the mind is wired to seek patterns—some helpful, others destructive. Neuroscience tells us that the brain creates habitual loops, reinforcing behaviors that provide temporary relief but often deepen our suffering. A Course in Miracles (ACIM) points to a deeper mind trap: the egoic belief that something outside of us can fill an inner void.
Join us for a LIVE discussion as we explore:
✅ How the ego fuels addictive patterns and the role of forgiveness in breaking us free.
✅ The parallel between the 12 Steps and ACIM’s principles of forgiveness.
✅ Practical ways to shift from fear-based coping to love-based living.
Whether you are personally navigating recovery, supporting a loved one, or seeking a deeper understanding of spiritual healing, join a conversation about how ACIM reframes addiction—not as a struggle to overcome, but as an invitation to remember our true identity in God.
NOTE: The Foundation for Inner Peace does not endorse any individual interpretation of A Course in Miracles. We aim to provide a space for open discussion and exploration of its teachings.

Megan Lassman is a mother, wife, spiritual teacher, and recovery sponsor. She has always been seeking connection: to herself, her Divine, and her community. For far too long, she was plagued by spectres of self hate and worthlessness, leaving her with decades of trauma before finally finding recovery in 2012. In 2017, being physically transformed but spiritually stagnant, she stumbled upon A Course In Miracles. The Course’s teachings of forgiveness were revolutionary and wholly transformational. Applying the principles of the Course has helped her heal many ancient hatreds, including her matriarchal generational trauma. She is the mother of three teenage girls, along with her husband of more than twenty years. Their oldest daughter, Penelope, has severe and profound special needs. The journey of raising a non-verbal, significantly cognitively and physically impaired child has been made all the more delightful by Megan’s daily practice with The Course. She teaches A Course In Miracles classes twice a week, runs long-distance races pushing her disabled daughter, is very active in the recovery community, and is dedicated to being a life-long learner in Earth school.

For over three decades, Laura Fenamore has been a devoted student of A Course in Miracles, continuously deepening her understanding and practice. She embraces the Course’s teachings in her daily life, shifting from fear and anxiety to fully embodying the truth: “Teach only love, for that is what you are” (ACIM, T-6.I.13:2). Laura’s journey with the Foundation for Inner Peace began as a dedicated volunteer, serving for decades before joining the staff full-time in 2019. Now, as Chief Development Officer and Volunteer Coordinator, she finds great joy in celebrating volunteers and expressing gratitude to the generous donors who make the Foundation’s work possible. Her heartfelt commitment to fostering connection and appreciation continues to support the mission of bringing A Course in Miracles to all who seek its wisdom.

From an early age, Celina Granato desired to understand the nature of reality. By her mid-twenties, she had explored various paths in search of genuine peace when she was introduced to A Course in Miracles (ACIM), which became her primary spiritual practice, guiding her through life’s challenges by focusing on a thought system of true forgiveness. Originally from the American Midwest and raised in a salt-of-the-earth community with a multicultural upbringing, Celina sees interpersonal relationships as some of the greatest opportunities for doing inner work. She understands the Course as a self-study practice for the mind and being uncompromising to ACIM principles leads to genuine spiritual growth. She is the Chief International and Communications Officer at the Foundation for Inner Peace.
