Welcome to the Privacy Policy of Foundation for Inner Peace, Inc., a New York Not-For-Profit corporation, qualified to do business in California (“Foundation”, “we”, “us” or “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal information, and this Privacy Policy sets out the framework as to how, when and why we collect and use personal information and other information about you in the course of your visit to or use of our USA-based website and downloading and using our mobile app (“Services”). When we use the term “personal information” in this Privacy Policy, it means information that is about you and which identifies you as an individual person. This Privacy Policy describes the personal information that we collect, how we obtain it, who is responsible for it when we provide our Services, how we use it, who we may disclose it to, and your rights in relation to removing, correcting or updating your personal information, or suspending its use. Your use of the Services is conditioned upon your agreement with this Policy and Foundation’s Services Terms of Use (“Terms”). Your consent for us to use your information for the specific reasons provided in this Privacy Policy can be withdrawn at anytime by contacting us at [email protected]. If you are a visitor to our Services from outside the USA, please be aware that you may be transferring your personal data to the USA, and that the laws in the USA governing privacy may be different than those in your home country. This Privacy Policy as modified from time-to-time, together with the Terms), creates a binding legal agreement between Foundation and you, and by accessing or using our Services in any way, you agree and consent without qualification to the Terms and this Privacy Policy.

- Collection of Personal Information. Some of the personal information collected by us is required for registration or business interaction purposes, and other information is voluntarily given by you when you interact with our Services, create an account, sign up to receive emails, make a charitable contribution, or purchase our products. The type of personal information that Foundation may collect and store may include without limitation the following:

- Your physical address
- Your telephone number
- Your email address
- Your areas of Services interest or Services preferences
- Your financial information for payment processing purposes
- Any other information relating to you that you may provide to us
We collect information when you provide it to us, such as when you “contact us” by email or otherwise, or when you register to do business with us.
- Non-Personal Information
Even if you do not register with or provide any personal information to the Foundation, we may also collect certain information automatically when you use our Services, such as the IP addresses and domain names of visitors, type or name of browser, mobile device information (type of device and operating system, but not unique device ID), page view history, app use frequency and duration, and other usage information about your use of our Services. We may collect this information for website administration and statistical purposes in order to help us improve our Services and create a better experience for all our customers. Please note, however, that we do not collect what some jurisdictions deem “sensitive data”, such as racial, ethnic, citizenship, or health data or an individual’s date of birth.

The type of personal information that Foundation may collect and store may include without limitation the following:
- DATA CONTROLLER FOR PERSONAL INFORMATION
For the purpose of certain data protection laws that require designation of a “data controller”, Foundation is the data controller for the personal information that we collect and use hereunder. Foundation is the party who determines the purpose for which your personal information is used and how we store and use it.
- USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
The Foundation collects and processes the minimum amount of personal information that is necessary to the purposes of our information processing activities and retains such information only if required to fulfil such purposes. We may collect personal information for the purposes set forth in the table below. Also described below is the legal rationale or basis (as required by some data protection laws) that we rely on to justify those uses of your personal information.

- PURPOSES OF COLLECTION
Legal basis for our collection: To provide our Services to you; for our legitimate and customary business purposes and, in certain circumstances, to facilitate, develop and perform a contract between you and Foundation; to register and verification of individuals for Services use or use of the Services; to administer and improve the Services; to send you information about Services that may be of interest to you based on your preferences; to prevent and detect fraud, or enforce our legal rights; or for our legitimate and customary business purposes. Where applicable, if the Foundation intends to further process your personal information for a purpose other than that for which the personal information was initially collected, Foundation shall, prior to such processing, provide you with any relevant information on such additional purpose, and, to the extent required by applicable law, obtain your consent for this.
- SHARING INFORMATION
Foundation may share some of your personal information with third parties, such as Services operators or technicians, contracted to assist us in providing services to you or to effectuate any of the purposes set forth in the table above. Such third-party service providers are precluded in their contracts with Foundation from using your personal information for any purpose other than to provide assistance to us in relation to these Services, and are required in their respective contracts with us to protect personal information disclosed by us, to respect the privacy principles described in this Privacy Policy, and to comply with all applicable laws. We also may disclose and/or transfer personal information to a third party in the event of a proposed purchase, sale, merger, financing, restructuring or similar type of transaction involving Foundation, or to professional advisors of Foundation, such as accountants, lawyers or insurance brokers or underwriters. We reserve the right to disclose and/or transfer personal information to a third party if required by law or pursuant to a court order or subpoena, or if necessary in Foundation’s reasonable opinion to identify someone in order to enforce Foundation’s legal rights. We may disclose aggregated information which is not personal information by nature to our business partners, investors, advertisers or other third parties. However, Foundation will not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. The Foundation does not trade, rent, or sell your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising, or process it for targeted advertising for consumer profiling.
- REMOVING, CORRECTING OR UPDATING INFORMATION
FU do not want your personal information used by the foundation as provided in this privacy policy, you should not use the service, register, download the app, or otherwise engage with an aspect of the Service that collects personal information. If for whatever reason you wish to remove, correct or update personal information obtained by Foundation, or if you wish to correct or update an address or other personal information, we will endeavor to correct, update or remove your personal information. - SUBPROCESSORS
The Foundation utilizes sub-processors (or service providers) in the performance of our Services including, but not limited to, payment processing and recording, app feedback and support, and email campaigns. You hereby authorize the Foundation to engage with sub-processors for these and other legitimate business purposes.
- RETENTION OF INFORMATION
We will only keep your personal information for as long as we need it, as permitted by the agreement for the Service, or as permitted or required by applicable law.
- USER SUBMISSIONS
Some features of the Services may now or in the future allow you to provide content, such as written comments or reviews, to be published or displayed on public areas of the Service (“User Submissions”). Be careful about giving out information in public areas of the Service. The information you share in public areas may be viewed by any user of the service. We cannot control the actions of other users of the Service with whom you may choose to share your User Submission.
- SECURITY
The security and protection of your personal information is important to us. Foundation and its service providers use reasonable security procedures and practices to prevent unauthorized access to your personal information, and its unauthorized use, disclosure or destruction. However, internet communications or transmissions are not totally secure, and you transmit your personal information to us at your own risk. Foundation does not and cannot warrant total security. Our Services may contain links to websites of independent third parties, and in such event, your use of such websites is at your own risk, and you should review their respective terms and conditions and privacy policies (including their terms governing security) prior to use.
- CHILDREN
The material on our Site is intended for our students and visitors interested in learning more about A Course in Miracles. Our site is not intended for use by children under the age of 18 without parental or guardian supervision. We do not knowingly collect or use any personal information from children. The Services is not designed for children, and Foundation does not knowingly or intentionally collect personal information from children under the age of majority, or such other age as may be precluded by applicable law.
- USE OF COOKIES
A cookie is a small electronic file placed in your computer by a website when you visit that website. It is designed to help manage that website’s use. Cookies can also store certain preference information to help customize your website experience. Cookies help us understand how consumers use our Services so we can design better services in the future. Web browsers can be adjusted to disable cookies. However, Foundation may not be able to provide you with all the functionality you desire on the Services if you choose to disable them. You may also remove cookies from your browser. The Foundation may use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, mobile analytics software, log files, or other technologies to collect certain information about your online activity and interactions with our emails, online and mobile advertisements, and to allow us to keep track of analytics and certain statistical information that enables the Foundation to improve our Services. It is not the Foundation’s intention to use cookies to retrieve information that is unrelated to our Service or your interaction with our Service. - SPECIAL NOTICE FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS
If you would like to submit a Consumer Request, you can contact us at [email protected]. If you choose to submit a Consumer Request, you must provide us with enough information to identify you (e.g., your first and last name, e-mail address, and telephone number) and enough specificity on the requested data. We will only use the information we receive to respond to your request. We will not be able to disclose information if we cannot verify that the person making the Consumer Request is the person about whom we collected information, or someone authorized to act on such persons behalf. We will verify your request by comparing the information you provide with the information we have on you and, if your request is submitted by an authorized agent, we will require you to provide signed, written permission for such agent to act on your behalf.
“Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household. “Personal Information” does not include any publicly available information.

- Request to Correct. You may correct or update your personal information at any time by logging into your account or by contacting us.
- Request to Access. You may submit a Consumer Request to obtain a copy of or access to the personal information that we have collected on you.
- Request to Know. You may submit a Consumer Request to receive information about our data collection practices.
- Right to Know what Personal Information is being Collected. You may request information on the categories of personal information we have collected about you; the categories of sources from which the personal information is collected; our business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing personal information; the categories of third parties to whom we have disclosed personal information, if any; and the specific pieces of personal information it has collected about you.
- Right to Know what Personal Information is Sold or Shared and to Whom. You may also request the categories of personal information that we have collected about you; the categories of personal information that we have sold or shared about you and the categories of third parties to whom the personal information was sold or shared, by category or categories of personal information for each category of third parties to whom the personal information was sold or shared, and the categories of personal information that we have disclosed about you for a business purpose and the categories of persons to whom it was disclosed for a business purpose.
Please note that the categories of personal information, sources, and disclosure will not exceed what is contained in this Notice. Additionally, we are not required to retain any information about you if it is only used for a one-time transaction and would not be maintained in the ordinary course of business. We are also not required to re-identify personal information if it is not stored in that manner already, nor is it required to provide the personal information to you more than twice in a twelve-month period.
- Request to Delete. You may request that we delete personal information it has collected from you. Subject to certain exceptions set out below we will, on receipt of a verifiable Consumer Request, delete your personal information from our records, direct any service providers to do the same, and notify all third parties to whom we have shared your personal information to delete it unless this proves impossible or involves disproportionate effort.
- Right to Access Information About Automatic Decision-Making. As discussed above, we do not currently engage in automated individual decision-making. However, in the event we ever do so, we will inform you of such change and you may request information about and opt out of such automated decision-making.

We may not, and will not, treat you differently because of your Consumer Request activity. As a result of your Consumer Request activity, we may not and will not deny goods or services to you; charge different rates for goods or services; provide a different level quality of goods or services; or suggest any of the preceding will occur. However, we can and may charge you a different rate, or provide a different level of quality, if the difference is reasonably related to the value provided by your personal information.
California has special legal provisions that may apply to tracking on websites. Foundation confirms that it will respect “do not track” signals from customer browser settings, as requested by applicable state law.
- REASONABLE FEES
Subject to applicable law, The Foundation may charge a reasonable fee for the administrative costs of any request that is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
- QUESTIONS

You may make an anonymous communication in relation to our Services or this Privacy Policy, but we may require you to identify yourself if that is required by law or if it is reasonably necessary in order to deal with your matter otherwise. We will acknowledge receipt of any complaint within FIVE (5) business days and will endeavor to provide you with a written response within THIRTY (30) days of receipt of your complaint. There may be instances where this is not possible due to the nature of the complaint, and in that event, we will respond to your complaint within a reasonable and practical time.
- MODIFICATIONS
Foundation reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify at any time this Privacy Policy or any portions thereof. In the event of any such modification(s), Foundation will inform you by posting the revised Privacy Policy on this Services, and setting out the effective date. Those modifications will go into effect on the effective date stated. By continuing to use this Services or any of the Services after the effective date, you accept unconditionally and agree to all such changes in the revised Privacy Policy or provisions. If you do not agree to such changes, you must discontinue use of the Services and this Services as your sole remedy.
We encourage you to frequently review this website for the latest information on our privacy practices. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used. You are bound by any changes to our Privacy Policy when you use the Service after such changes have been first posted. If you do not accept the terms of our Privacy Policy, we ask that you do not register with us and that you do not use our Services.
