The Glasses Were on Your Head the Whole Time
a.k.a. Seeking What Is Already Here with Lisa Natoli
Seminario web disponible en español: Los lentes estaban sobre tu cabeza todo el tiempo o sea
If you’ve spent any time with A Course in Miracles, you may recognize this feeling: You’ve read the lessons. You’ve highlighted passages. You’ve had insights. You may have even found yourself explaining the Course to someone else.
And yet… peace can still feel a little like your reading glasses when they’re already on your head. Why?
In this Conversations on Course fireside chat, Celina Granato sits down with Lisa Natoli, spiritual teacher, author, and longtime student of A Course in Miracles, to consider one of the most persistent questions on the spiritual path: If what I am seeking is already here… why do I keep searching?
Together, they explore:
- What is the difference between understanding the Course and actually experiencing what it points to?
- Who is the “I” that is practicing the Course?
- What stories am I still believing about myself, and how do we move from identifying with the story… to recognizing that we are already “one in shared Identity”? (ACIM, W-283.2:1)
Lisa offers a simple but profound reminder:
“Enlightenment is not a change at all. It’s a recognition.”
And suddenly, some of the Course’s most familiar ideas begin to sound a little different.
What if peace isn’t something we achieve, and healing isn’t about fixing ourselves?
What if the self we’ve been trying so hard to improve is not who we really are?
And what if what we’ve been looking for has been here the whole time, patiently waiting while we search everywhere else?
Settle in for this conversation if you’ve ever found yourself chasing answers, wrestling with suffering, or wondering why spiritual seeking sometimes feels a bit like rearranging furniture in a room you’re trying to leave.
The Course is not another self-improvement project.
It is not asking us to become a better version of ourselves.
It is inviting us to remember what is already true.
“Truth can only be recognized and need only be recognized”. (ACIM, T-7.IV.1:1)
Warm, honest, spacious, and deeply lived, this conversation explores identity, recognition, and the possibility that what we seek may be closer than we think.
NOTE: The Foundation for Inner Peace does not endorse any individual interpretation of A Course in Miracles. We aim to provide a space for open discussion and exploration of its teachings.
