The “Special Messages” were guidance given to Helen Schucman in the identical way the Course itself was dictated. They appeared intermittently over the years of the Scribing of the Course (1965-1973) whenever Helen and Bill asked for advice from the Voice. After those years, the messages also included Kenneth Wapnick and Judith Skutch (Whitson). (1973-1978).

“I think our agreement that we were dissatisfied with the way we had been handling our problems and our fears both professionally and personally was the question that leads to the Course. I asked for another way and Helen joined with me. And that joining in looking for another way — we didn’t know how it was going to be. The Course came as an answer because it is a very serious question.”
