The Foundation for A Course in Miracles (FACIM) opened in 1983 as a school for A Course in Miracles under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Wapnick and his wife, Gloria Wapnick, who served as both administrators and faculty members until Ken’s passing in December 2013. FACIM continues the work of Dr. Wapnick under the guidance of Gloria Wapnick.
The lines between the Foundation for Inner Peace (FIP) and the Foundation for A Course in Miracles (FACIM) have always been fluid. This reflects their shared purpose and common origins. Originally, there was one organization. Out of this grew the creation of FACIM.
Unity of function in this regard also facilitated the translation of A Course in Miracles into other languages. FIP handled the administration and supervision, while FACIM carried out the teaching and training of translators. FIP now carries out all of these functions: vetting new translators, guiding them throughout the translation process, and publishing new and revised translations.
Equally, the preparation of the second and third editions of A Course in Miracles, the Concordance of A Course in Miracles and the annotation referencing system were collaborative ventures of the two foundations.
