Our beloved Robert “Bob” Skutch, Vice President and co-founder of the Foundation for Inner Peace, scribe-authorized publisher of A Course in Miracles, passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 99 on April 1st, 2025.
“Here is the memory of what you are; a part of this, with all of it within, and joined to all as surely as all is joined in you.”(ACIM, T-21.I.9:3)

Life gifted me with many meetings with Bob and they always were together with Judy and Whit. They are my loving ACIM Trinity.
On their own, each one did an absolutely extraordinary life on earth, and by no accident, the three together were very carefully chosen by the Author to perform their part within the Foundation for Inner Peace. ⁶By their fruits ye shall know them, (ACIM, T-9.V.9:6) : A GREAT JOB they did fulfilling Foundation’s purpose. Bob did his part with diligence, Love, always with humor and very often teaching in quiet. Well done very Dear Bob. THANK YOU.

I communicated directly with Bob Skutch in 2007-08 while obtaining dozens of ACIM so I could give them away. Bob supported my quest by his diligence and generosity.
I think Bob’s departure on April 1st is extremely fitting. For us ‘Separated Ones’ Bob’s ‘life time-line’ ended sadly on that day after 99 years…
But I can almost see Bob’s smiling face and hear the lilt in Bob’s voice as he humorously reminds us…
“APRIL FOOLS! I ‘m still around! I just stepped outside the physical ‘BOX’ into forever!

At the moment with a heavy heart and deep reverence, I extend my condolences for the passing of Robert Skutch—known lovingly to so many simply as “Bob.” In A Course in Miracles, we are reminded: “The Son of Life cannot be killed. He is immortal as his Father. What he is cannot be changed.” (Text, p. 616). These words shine with even more truth as we remember Bob—not only for the life he lived, but for the Light he helped to share with the world. Through his work and unwavering dedication to the Course, Bob became a quiet yet powerful steward of a message that continues to heal hearts and awaken minds. His life was a gift, his service a blessing, and his presence a reflection of the Love he believed in so deeply. Though he has laid down the body, his spirit lives on—unchanged, unbound, and forever embraced in the peace of God. May we honor him not with sorrow alone, but with gratitude for all that he gave, and with faith in the eternal connection that cannot be broken.

I did not know you personally, yet through our commen friend, I heard about your life.
Besides that you are also a legend when it comes to team that brought ACIM into our lives.
Just for that I am very grateful to you.
Your song that you sang on the YouTube video that Tam recorded is one that speaks volumes of what we are to practice here, everyday and with everyone.

I met Bob Skutch (as well as Ken Wapnick and Whit Whitson with their wives Gloria and Judith, and Bob Rosenthal) as a member of the team translating A Course in Miracles into Czech during Translators’ Gratitude Gathering in Tiburon, October 2012. As a passionate historian (history was one of my subjects during my university studies), I knew about the way European Jews came to their current names when, at the end of 18th century, the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire Joseph II. (the same one people know from the movie Amadeus) ordered them to give themselves European surnames. Some of them chose their surnames according to the places where they lived. So after returning home I decided to discover the places where the ancestors of Robert Rosenthal and Ken Wapnick came from (with Ken I was fatefully connected because when I celebrated my 36th birthday with my friends, Czech translators of ACIM, we received the news in the middle of the celebration that Ken died that same day…
However, the closest place to me turned out to be the town where the ancestors of Bob Skutch came from: a town only 40 km away from where I live. I went there, took a picture of the house number with the old name of the town SKUTSCH STDT. on one of the houses (which means TOWN SKUTSCH – I attach the photo) and sent it to Judith Whitson, with whom I was exchanging emails at that time. My theory was that my research was correct, but in the case of Bob’s family surname in America his ancestors shortened the name by the letter S. Judith confirmed this to me when she wrote me an email:
„Dear Tomas,
What a holy coincidence.
The photo from Skutsch I just sent to my ex-husband and Foundation partner, Bob Skutch. He did know that was where his family came from and will be very surprised on HIS birthday to get this picture that you took. Yes, tomorrow is his 92nd birthday!“
In Ken’s case, the Holy Spirit connected my birthday with his Ascension – and in Bob’s case it was my random gift to him and the fact that it arrived with him just on his birthday! Thank Him very much for that!

In the late 80’s I was a workshop in Edmonton with Claude Steiner the publisher of the Course. He spoke about his journey with the Course and with everything that he shared, I thought to myself, this is not for me. It was just too weird for me with many examples of his journey that I thought were very strange. However on the table was a book called Journey Without Distance. I found myself devouring the book and since I had been intrigued with channeling, I was open to the message of how the Course came to be. It was enough to motivate me to order the Course which at that time was a three volume set. So I have always been so grateful to Robert Skutch as it was his book that took me to the Course. Later I met Willis Harmon from the Institute for Noetic Sciences and he really clinched it for me and actually encouraged me to start with the lessons. So it is in gratitude for both of these individuals that I have continued with the course, never laying it aside for all these years. Such perfect orchestration. I have been blessed by their part in this drama and glad that they said ‘yes’ to coming here and showing up in my life.
On the occasions I recall fondly several years ago when I met with Judy, Whit, Tam, Bob (Rosenthal), Deborah, Tara, and all the other wonderful folks at FIP while working on the website, I received the same warm, gracious, welcoming hospitality from Bob Skutch. He was soft-spoken and didn’t say much, but when he spoke, it was always kind and sometimes humorous. I sensed a quiet, peaceful, gentle mind in Bob. I learned of his dedication to answering phone calls, shipping books, and keeping so much of the Foundation going, demonstrating the dedication and devotion he had to a truly worthy cause. Thanks, Bob, for being a vital part of the inspirational team that continues the work that you and Judy started!

“Foundation”! That’s what I loved to hear whenever I called Bob. I would reply it was his “bad penny” checking up on him :-)) I had the privilege of working closely with Bob for a number of months. I would go to his house under the pretense of learning how he did the finances for the Foundation while the real reason appeared to be the opportunity to engage in beautiful, meaningful, encouraging conversations. Bob was a gentle soul filled with wisdom and I treasured the time we spent together. His sense of humor always cracked me up. Thank you Bob for lighting up my life, for your dedication to ACIM and your generosity of spirit. You live in my heart. Marguerite
In the early 1990s after starting to appreciate A Course in Miracles, my late husband Ken and I considered contributing to the work. But without a named author and only a P.O. Box at that time, as a new student, I was suspicious and wanted to see something in person to make sure it was legitimate to send money! Bob invited us to come to his home (at that time ACIM “official headquarters”) for a visit. We did, and because of that welcoming visit on his deck, we started sending checks with brief notes included, and he replied in kind! It was always a friendly, long-distance connection.
Practicing the Course Lessons changed our lives and continues to bring us peace. I am deeply grateful for Bob’s contributions as a military veteran, a writer, and for his support of the work of The Foundation for Inner Peace. Go to the Light and Rest in Peace, Dear Friend!

Bob and Judy were a force of love. First visited with Bob poolside at the Westerbeke Ranch in June 1975, with Helen and Louie shucman, as they brainstormed a future pathway for the ‘Course’. Bob also threw his support behind Jerry Jampolski’s Center for Attitudinal Healing. And now we ascribe to his chocolate and ice cream formula!
Robert “Bob” Skutch was instrumental in my introduction to A Course In Miracles. I heard Bob being interviewed on New Dimensions radio program in 1985, he was there talking about his book “Journey without distance-the story of A Course In Miracles”. I soon after found his book in a Metaphysical bookstore.
I have been with the Course ever since. Thank you so much Bob, lovely incarnation

Bob must be the person who read my letter to The Foundation for Inner Peace in Tiburon, CA in 1980 and sent me the 3-volume hard cover set which arrived by UPS a week or so later at my apartment in Jamestown, NY (that is where the Course was introduced to me in the September 1980 issue of “Psychology Today” magazine, which mysteriously appeared in that apartment). I will be forever grateful that he responded to my type-written letter as I have studied the Course every day ever since. I’m only one of many, many thousands of people whose lives were permanently changed for the better by Bob’s part-time volunteer job at the Foundation. I read his “Journey Without Distance” as soon as it was available. The quote, “Here is the memory of what you are; a part of this, with all of it within, and joined to all as surely as all is joined in you.” says it perfectly. And to it I would add two quotes by Ram Das: “We’re all just walking each other home” and “Death is an incredible opportunity to awaken.” Peace, Fred Estabrook
In 2018(?) I emailed Bob saying I wanted to stop by to meet him in person having emailed a few times. He replied, “No, I’m 91”. I thought: Okay, but what does that have to do with visiting?
A blessing to have communicated with him.
To my dearest “Pops”, what a wonderful and long ride we had as father and daughter and how fortunate I have been to have you in my life for so long. You have always been generous and caring and we’ve always managed to laugh at something every time we spoke all the way to the very end. The “singing” video which Tam recently recorded that is posted here will be a treasure for the rest of my days as a testimony to your humor and spirit. I feel your presence in the light and it illuminates my heart in this crazy world. I know you’re singing and dancing with spirit and you were welcomed in huge loving universal arms back home. Until we meet again, I send all my deepest love and gratitude to your “being” here on this earth and for bringing me into the family called ACIM. We love you.

My heart goes out to all the staff at the Foundation for Inner Peace. I was once graced with a brief but lovely conversation with Bob Skutch.
A Course in Miracles found me in 2001. To say that it changed my life is an understatement. In 2013, Robert Rosenthal, M.D., the eventual co-President of the FIP, found me on Facebook and sent me a message asking if I would read and critique his book, From Plagues to Miracles. I had just launched my podcast on Spirituality & Metaphysics, and we did a two-hour segment discussing his book and ACIM. I was honored when Dr. Bob — as he was affectionately known to my listeners — asked to join me on my show on a monthly basis to read from the text and offer our individual interpretations. He was a wonderful co-host and teacher.
My copy of ACIM was filled with bookmarks, flowers, leaves, highlighted passages, notes in the margins and revelations, so I decided to order a new book to teach from with Dr. Bob, and that’s when I had my conversation with Mr. Skutch. He answered the phone and was so kind, humble and helpful.
I’ve moved my whole operation to CharlotteSpicer.Substack.com, and intend to re-publish my segments with Dr. Bob together with inspired articles on ACIM. Feel free to join me if you are inclined.
I’m so grateful to everyone involved in scribing, publishing and translating the Course, and to all of those who keep the FIP going with such integrity.
