FIP’s beloved Reverend Emmanuelle Rosenthal, Board Member and Communications Coordinator, transitioned on March 8, 2023. Her personal nature was inclined towards feminism, and it is with a smile that we acknowledge that, in the world of form, her spirit rose through the metaphoric “glass ceiling” on International Women’s Day. Emmanuelle was founder and first admin of the Let’s Discuss ACIM Facebook Group in the spring of 2020. Having studied the Course for thirty years, she scholarly answered Course questions and authored many of our FAQ articles. Emmanuelle was a devoted mother of two, and partner and wife for many years to our departed Co-president, Dr. Robert Rosenthal (a.k.a. “Dr. Bob”).
Among her many contributions to the FIP Board and our Course community at large, Emmanuelle is held in deep gratitude particularly for her gift to the Course world of creating our online forum where international ACIM students join together to discuss, study and practice A Course in Miracles in an atmosphere of love and kindness. Her vision and exemplary loving, welcoming direction and leadership during the initial phases of our Facebook group helped launch its membership expansion in a miraculously swift pace to more than 22,000 participants. She leaves this as a legacy for continued growth in perpetuity.
Emmanuelle was a curious, highly intelligent, wry-humored, open-hearted woman who was firmly committed to practicing, living and breathing the Course. She showed great willingness to be guided by the Holy Spirit at every turn. During the last months of her physical presence among us, she would join the weekly Zoom call with FIP volunteers and staff from her bed, finally liberated from caring about what she looked like or how she was perceived by others. She showed up in a diminishing corporal form, as a powerful teaching example of the willingness to follow the guidance and express the Spirit that showed in an exponentially strengthening light within her decaying body. We who witnessed it could see clearly that her failing body was not her; she was buoyed up by the Love of God, her heart forever held in the “hush of Heaven.”
“There is no death; the Son of God is free. God made not death. Whatever form it takes must therefore be illusion. This the stand we take today. And it is given us to look past death, and see the life beyond. Our Father, bless our eyes today. We abide…in the life we share with You and with all living things, to be like You and part of You forever.”(ACIM, W-163.8:6-9;9:1,6) Amen.
Emmanuelle said before her passing: “If anyone wishes to give something in my honor, instead of flowers or anything else, please ask them to give currency in love, time or money to the place where I’ve always chosen to give my love, time and energy: the Foundation for Inner Peace.”
