Gratitude for Judy
The immensity of my thankfulness for the work Judy helped bring into our world is immeasurable! I can only hope that my life presents as joyful and empowering a presence to those around me as she did every time she spoke: love and light Judith. http://www.careyrutherford.ca
I am a life student of ACIM. I began in the early 80s.
I visited your Center in the summer of 1986, and had the privilege to meet Judith. At that time, I had just created a healing center in Caracas, Venezuela where I used ACIM in conjunction with rebirthing as the main healing tools. My visit to the Foundation was to ask for a translation of the book to Spanish, so people at the Center could read it. I was well-received at the Foundation by Judith and everyone. After a few conversations, she lovingly gave away the parts of the book that had already been translated so I could make copies for the people at my Center. Those copies were well-used for years at the Center in Caracas, until I moved to the USA.
Knowing Judith recently returned home, I want to tell all of you at the Center know about the story. I forever remain grateful for her unspeakable act of generosity. She has left the world a better place for all of us to live. Thank you from the bottom or my heart dear Judy.

My 90 year old mum and I started studying A course in Miracles just 4 months ago, She has the French version and I have the Circle of Atonement version. We discovered Judy thru the writings of Robert Skutch. Our eyes were opened up. Her purity and clarity and immense LOVE are infinitely inspiring, and give us strength to continue our study.

Despite my body being in a puddle of tears, my heart rejoices with Judy, and my Spirit is soaring in light as I feel her Presence bathed in Light and Love. One of the most remarkable people I’ve met (in any way) has left the most remarkable imprint on my real Self, the imprint of the purest form of love I’ve encountered on this life journey. It will continue with me always, that Love. And I send my love to Judy, her family, her Foundation family, and to all who have had the honor to know her. No gift is greater than the Love Judy shared. Dear Judy, while teaching the course to my Brazilian students yesterday, I talked about you. This class is available on Mera Group’s YouTube channel.
I told them that by being with you in person, assured me the possibility of learning the Course of Jesus. Your eyes showed me what I want to achieve some day: the genuine joy that only the fearless can have.
Your loving kindness will remain in my heart forever while I still perceive myself as a separate being. It will only disappear when I remember that we are one.

There are no words to describe the incredible woman you were, and the spirit you have gone back to! Even though my heart is deeply moved by your passing, returning Home to God, leaving the cell of the body, is your reward for a life so well lived. You did not shy away from a single forgiveness lesson. To your example I have loads to be grateful for! For your persistence, commitment, perseverance, and most of all for your all encompassing Love.
I had asked to be closer to the original 4, and then I was granted the blessed opportunity to translate for you into Spanish. In form this means very little, but in content it was gift beyond measure and you were the vehicle.
I see you in blazing light, without limit, forever present, forever Love. God in his formlessness is delighted to have you back!

I knew of Judith, I did not know her directly or personally. I came here, to this memorial site after receiving Gary’s email, I wanted to add to this memorial but there wasn’t anything I felt to write. Just now as I am deciding what to listen to before sleep tonight, I immediately thought of listening to another episode of Miracle Voices, I listened to my first two yesterday. This morning I was thinking, actually I was narrating the of expressing the excitement I was feeling upon noticing that hearing about forgiveness seems to be exactly what I needed at this time. I felt excited, activated. So much so that I want more. It is what I have called a Helen Keller moment, Crystal clear about what I want,, which seems like clarity. And here is where I am to express my excitement, inspiration.
Thank you Judith for showing me what is possible.

We’re told we each have a part in God’s Plan for Salvation. Judy’s was her own part and one she “filled” to the fullest.
From “knowing” she was needed to question – you’re hearing a voice, aren’t you?, to asking about the “soon to be” publishing task, to giving Jerry Jampolsky a xeroxed copy, Judy modeled a “Course-Filled” life, including when she put those course volumes on the floor and stood on them in order to reach the microphone.
A gentle giant within the course community, we love you, Judy.

I met Judy for the first time in-person 11 years ago, in Tiburon, California. At the time, I was 10 years old, and I was corresponding with her via email for about 9 months. The first time I saw a picture of her, I felt like I knew her, though I had never spoken to her or met her. Our email correspondence started a lifelong connection between us. I will always consider Judy family, as well as Whit, Tam, and Lije. Judy is so kind, generous, and loving, and is the most amazing Spirit. She taught me so much about the Course and her life, through our phone calls, emails, and in-person conversations that went on for hours. I will cherish our many memories forever. Everything that Judy did was touched by Spirit, and she always took so much time and love with everything she did. Whether it was replying to the hundreds of emails she received daily, meetings day in and out, interviews and podcasts, to help Course students worldwide and to make the Course as accessible as possible. Reading through these memorial messages, you can see how many lives she touched. She is a remarkable woman, and I will be forever grateful for having the privilege of knowing her during this lifetime. She was and still is a Light in this world. And I know, in my heart, she is still present and watching over me. I will love you forever Kitten.

Remembering Judy
Love is the way she walked in gratitude

Yesterday morning, I received a call from Tam Morgan who let me know that her mother, Judith Skutch Whitson, had made her transition into eternal life a few hours earlier. There is no doubt that A Course in Miracles is in your hands (and countless millions around the world) because of the guidance, insight, and divine willingness of this beloved child of God. Her readiness to accept the mission from co-scribes Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford to take the Course to its publication was a mighty leap of faith. With grace and tenacity, she led the Foundation for Inner Peace (original publishers of the Course) to bring this healing tome to the world. It is not hyperbolic to say that we would not have the Course today without her guiding and guided hand.
I am deeply honored to have walked this world with her since 1977, and I will continue to be inspired by her love and wisdom. In September, Judy recorded a video for me for our on-demand seminar this Saturday. In that video she was, as she always was, brilliant, beautiful, and insightful. She truly left this world of limits on a high note!
In my last phone call with Judy, we reminisced about our 44-year history together. We were grateful to have been brought together through our love of the Course and our love for each other. I know she has experienced her homecoming with her husband, Whit, all her dear ones who have passed on, and her Heavenly Father. Thank you, Judy. I am so grateful to you, my dear sister.
And gratitude to God becomes the way in which He is remembered, for love cannot be far behind a grateful heart and thankful mind. God enters easily, for these are the true conditions for your homecoming. (M-23.4)
Before I met Judy I did not know that angels live among us on this earth. I met a lot of people in my life: wonderful and light, enormously strong and extremely wise, but there was only one angel and it was Judy. She was so natural in her angelic embodiment that it did not cause any amazement – oh, yes, …. just an ordinary miracle.
We only met a few times, but even after the very first time, when Judy and Whit hosted my wife and me in their Tiburon house, she never left my heart. She was always near and her presence in my life filled my heart with hope and faith in Higher Force and in destiny of a Man, since we happened to be here together.
I saw what real Love looks like and how it changes everything around us. I saw what real Faith looks like and how it can move the mountains. I saw how it is possible to live on this earth and be above this earthly vale, how to embrace and absorb it at the same time.
They say the people “leave”. But Judy did not go. She is in our hearts, our dreams, in every flower and every prayer. And herein lie Miracles, which are available to everyone and herein lies the Reality that is always here and the Heaven where we meet Judy again.

Words fail at such times. Judy has lit up my world since I met her in 1969, and now she’s gone on to light up Heaven too. Surely we will discover she has not truly left us but only changed her form to one ever more easily worn and easily moved at the speed of thought. May we all take inspiration now from our memories of her and soon take inspiration from her presence directly. May her absence here inspire some lofty souls in Heaven to take the plunge and come join us in a dimension so deeply in need of lofty delight, integrity, and generous love.

I became a volunteer with the Foundation for Inner Peace in February 2021 and was invited to a weekly gathering of staff and volunteers. The first time I attended the online gathering, I met Judy and remember feeling immense gratitude to the woman who played such a critical role in ensuring ACIM was released into the world. Over the course of the following 8 months, I had opportunity to speak with Judy and know her.
Judy was, is, and will always be a being of pure light and love. During her time on this physical plane, she walked in communion with the Holy Spirit. She radiated such love and beauty, and I never felt anything but true unconditional acceptance from her. The lessons I learned from her are among the most important I have learned in this life.
My heart overflows with love and gratitude for this wonderful woman whose “yes” to the Holy Spirit changed my life in ways I am only beginning to understand. On the morning of October 19, 2021 the light of Heaven got a little brighter and the song of the angels became a little sweeter. My heart aches at what I perceive as a loss, but my Spirit rejoices in the knowledge that LOVE never dies.
I love how down-to-earth she was…and it sure feels like she’s still here and there also. When I think of her I can hear her laughing. She’s definitely my role model.
“I am here only to be truly helpful.
I am here to represent Him Who sent me.
I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do,
because He Who sent me will direct me.
I am content to be wherever He wishes, knowing He goes there with me.
I will be healed as I let Him teach me to heal.”

I am certain Judy applied this prayer daily and also was a willing channel for the Holy Spirit to extend miracles.
Reading Judy’s memorial I felt the holy presence affirming her dedication to the ACIM.
In her last moments she reminded us of:
“I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me”
“The Lord Bless Thee and Keep The”

Hi Judy,
I lived below You, Bill and Helen in NYC on the west side below Columbia University in 1975-76 (and 3 blocks north of John & Yoko [Lennon] at The Dakota) at 35 W 75th St); and preceded You and Bob out west six months later—ending up in Salt Lake City, Utah. Shortly thereafter, You and He ended up in Mill Valley, California. After I found the Course in September 1982, I FELT like I “was” in lock-step with You and ACIM!
It has been absolutely lovely to have been able to share Your experiences lately through the FFIP webinars and the Miracle Voices podcast, for which I am extremely grateful.

I am fairly new to ACIM, although on some level, knowing it all my seeming life here. I had recently begun to listen to Judy and fell in love with her as soon as she started speaking in what I like to call one of her Godcasts. 🙂 And now I am hooked on Judy along with all of you. What a joy she must have been to those who knew her personally. Her demonstrations of Love will continue for us all. It is such a wonderful feeling to be a part of the whole.
